POLYECO S.A. SUCCESSFULLY ORGANIZED OIL SPILL AWARENESS WORKSHOP IN MAURITIUS

Polyeco S.A. has successfully organized an Oil Spill Awareness Workshop, for 25 representatives from various stakeholders in Port Luis, Mauritius.

The Oil Spill Awareness Workshop was specifically designed for operational staff within ports, harbours, oil handling facilities, offshore personnel, local governmental authorities and environmental agencies, who may form part of an oil spill response team.

The aim of the workshop was to familiarize them with understanding of pre-spill planning, the deployment and use of equipment for oil spill clean-up operations and the Health & Safety procedures. The course was Free of Charge.

The workshop was held on Thursday 3rd of May 2018, at the Marina of Caudan Waterfront in Port Luis. There were 25 participants and among them were Representatives from Oil Companies, Mauritius Port Authority, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Shipping, National Coast Guard and P&I Correspondents, which were trained on Oil Spill Response.

Speaker on behalf of Polyeco S.A. was Mr. Nikos Daskalakis, Global Oil Spill Response Department Director.

The main goal of the workshop was to familiarize participants with the Helath & Safety requirements during Oil Spill Response operations, Reporting Procedures, Response Options, Mechanical Recovery of Oil, use of Chemical Dispersants, Shoreline Clean-up, waste segregation, practical deployment of equipment.
